Higher Education Administration

If interested in specializing in higher education administration, we offer master's and doctoral degrees providing opportunities to work at the collegiate level. We also offer a master's level degree in the student affairs administration in higher education (SAAHE) which is specifically designed for individuals interested in working with college students.   • Master of Science (M.S.) or Master of Education (MEd.) - the 42-hour master's program will enhance the student's knowledge and skills so that he/she may enter a mid-level management position at the college level. There are six required courses with the remaining courses to be in the support field and specialization areas.
  • Doctor of Philosophy - a 73-hour degree program which will prepare students for leadership roles in higher education administration, teaching and research through an emphasis of integrating theory and practice. With a concentration in a variety of areas, students will be able to achieve their personal goals. The degree has several required courses with the remaining courses that will include a support field in a related discipline.

All students in the higher education administration master's and doctoral program must complete a residency requirement set forth by Texas A&M University specific for the degree program of interest. For more information, please refer to the Residence Requirement information. Only doctoral students are required to fill out a residency form and submit it to the department.

Application submission deadlines for the Master's and Doctorate degrees is August 15 for Spring semester and December 1 for Summer or Fall semester. Candidates will be required to come to campus for an interview with faculty if the faculty consider it neccessary. All admission decisions will be made by mid March.
